Charleen Hamrick serves as the Chief Operations Executive at Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers where she brings over three decades of extensive paralegal and operational experience to her role. A graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990 with majors in International Studies, Government, and History.
After completing her undergraduate studies, Charleen began her paralegal career working for a sole practitioner, focusing on title examinations, deeds, and wills. She then transitioned to a larger firm, where she expanded her background to include a small civil practice in addition to title work and estate planning.
Her career took a pivotal turn when she joined the in-house counsel team of an insurance company. There, she deepened her understanding of insurance claims and litigation defense. This experience prepared her for her next role at a Washington, D.C.-based law firm, where she managed the West Virginia office and served as a litigation paralegal focusing on the defense of professional malpractice claims. In this capacity, she honed her analytical skills by addressing the complex issues underlying legal malpractice cases and helped to guide clients through the litigation process.
Subsequently, Charleen spent 15 years with a plaintiff-focused law firm, where she worked as a litigation paralegal in high-stakes cases, including coal mining death litigation and chemical exposure claims. This position allowed her to advocate for clients in some of the most challenging and impactful areas of personal injury law.
In 2015, seeking a lifestyle change, Charleen relocated to coastal South Carolina and joined Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers.
As Chief Operations Executive, Charleen oversees the strategic and day-to-day operations of the firm, ensuring efficiency, fostering collaboration among team members, and working to uphold the firm’s commitment to delivering five-star service to its clients.
Outside of work, Charleen is a dedicated DogMom to Lucille, loves to read and travel, and considers herself a shopping expert.
